We usually talk about — or better yet, show you — the beautiful meadows full of wildflowers, the iconic oak trees that populate our region, the life-supporting water of our protected rivers and streams, the expansive rangelands that support both wildlife and grazing cattle, and the happy hikers experiencing the joy of spending time in nature. But sometimes it’s fun to dive into the numbers of 30 years of tireless work…

  • We have completed 64 conservation projects in the past 30 years
  • Which resulted in 46 Placer Land Trust preserves (this includes properties that Placer Land Trust holds the fee title or conservation easement, and does not include properties that we assisted with or transferred to other entities such as CA State Parks)
  • Placer Land Trust, with the help of our members, have protected 11,956 acres (and counting…)
  • Of those acres, we own 57% in fee title, and have conservation easements on 43%
  • These lands consist of:
    • 7% Sierra forest
    • 25% valley grasslands
    • 68% Foothill oak woodlands
  • 73% of Placer Land Trust’s preserves are used for agricultural purposes
  • Placer Land Trust’s preserves include:
    • 39 miles of trails
    • 22 miles of streams and rivers
    • 223 acres of wetlands (of which 85 acres have been sites of restoration projects)
