Christy is a native of California’s Bay Area and an Alum of Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo, California, where she earned her BS in Animal Science and double minor in Geography and Art & Design. She began her career in conservation education at Savannas Preserve State Park in Florida through the AmeriCorps program. She served as Environmental Educator and Volunteer Coordinator and discovered her passions for conservation outreach and working with volunteers. In 2011 she traveled to the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains to the small town of Piedmont, Alabama, where she worked for the Georgia-Alabama Land Trust, specializing in outreach and protection of an impaired waterway and surrounding watershed.
In 2016 Christy moved to the high desert in the southwest to serve as the Executive Director of the Railyard Park Conservancy, a grassroots nonprofit organization serving as the stewards and advocates of the 13-acre urban Railyard Park, a city-owned urban greenspace protected with a Conservation Easement. With the Conservancy, she continued her passion for strengthening community through creative programming utilizing this shared public space while promoting conservation through education and holistic land management projects.
Christy is excited to merge her past experiences in her role as Recreation Manager with Placer Land Trust, developing and strengthening recreational use of preserved land in the area. She is happy to be part of the Land Trust community once again to continue her passion for conservation and community — and excited to be back in her home state of California, exploring all the trails, rivers and rolling hills of this beautiful area.
Christy enjoys digging into local history, hiking with her dogs Olive and Jake, walking the neighborhood with her cat MowMow, gardening and building furniture. In her free time, Christy is an avid painter, jeweler and craftswoman and loves spending any and all time in the out-of-doors.
