This event is full and registration is closed.

Date & Time: Monday, January 17 at 9:00am

Location: Big Hill Preserves, North Auburn

About this event: They say the early bird catches the worm, so morning must be the best time for bird watching! Our trained docents will help you look and listen for year-round residents in this open oak woodland and fields area and along Raccoon Creek. We’ll spend a couple hours practicing basic birding identification skills and get to know the common residents of the diverse habitat of this beautiful preserve.

Distance and difficulty: This will be an easy outing with only about a mile of hiking/walking involved, with some uphill and downhill travel on uneven ground and rough terrain. Some of the walking may be off trail on steep ground or in tall grass.

Who should attend: This event is open to all levels of birders; no prior experience necessary, and more advanced birders are welcome too. Sorry, no dogs allowed unless they are service animals (due to the potential conflicts with livestock and wildlife). We expect to be done around Noon.

Cost: This is a free event; however, donations help make these activities possible! Plus, your donation of any size makes you, and everyone in your household, a Placer Land Trust member for one year. We suggest a donation of $10 per person (or $25 for family) made online after you register for the event. We can also accept checks at the event, or cash in an envelope with your name written on the envelope.
