Mehrey grew up in a rural Bay Area community that remains much the same thanks to willing landowners and the local land trust – she has long felt the need to give back. Mehrey works as a vegetation ecologist and has twenty-five years of experience in California in a variety of ecosystems including Sierra Nevadan meadows; freshwater wetlands and intertidal marshes; the lower Cosumnes, Merced, Mokelumne, Stanislaus, Sacramento, Yuba and Russian River riparian corridors; Central Valley vernal pools and grasslands; Sierran foothill oak woodlands; and the East Bay and North Bay coast ranges.

Mehrey served on the Placer Land Trust Board of Directors from 2002 – 2010 and 2013 – 2017, including roles as Secretary 2005 – 2007 and Vice-President 2015 – 2017. After dedicating the past 6 years to her children’s non-profit school, including serving as Board President during the pandemic, Mehrey is thrilled to be back.

“I just find myself being impressed by this organization over and over again. I am especially excited about bringing a more diverse group of citizens onto the land, and the new opportunities available for reintroducing beneficial prescribed burning. I would also like to bring more attention to the vital role of willing private landowners in conservation and climate solutions.”
