Date & Time: Sunday, October 27th at 10:00 am

Location: Big HiIl Preserves, North Auburn

Join us for an uplifting and unique experience at Big Hill Preserve – “Shinrin-Yoku” (forest bathing)

A Forest Bathing Hike is a meditative, slower-paced hike where we focus on immersing all of our senses in the unique nature around us. We will include a series of invitations that encourage you to pause, reflect, and allow yourself to experience the environment in a new way. Studies have shown that participants experience reduced blood pressure, reduced depression, and increased energy and ability to focus.  Traditionally, the path through the forest is not a defined route, but a meander through the forest and some of the sensory highlights of the preserve.

Bring water and a lunch or snack.

Distance and difficulty: No special equipment is needed for this hike other than comfortable clothes and shoes.  This will be a moderate and slow meditative walk across approximately 3 -4 miles and will take approximately 3 ½ – 4 hours of walking, some on trails, some alongside trails, and across small fields with minimal hills and some uneven terrain.

Who should attend: Open to anyone. This event is not recommended for children. Sorry, no dogs allowed unless they are service animals (due to the potential conflicts with livestock and wildlife).

This is a free event; however, donations help make these activities possible! We suggest a donation of $10 per person or $25 for a family. You can donate during registration, and we’re happy to accept cash or a check at the event in an envelope with your name written on it.

About Taylor Ranch / Big Hill Preserves:
These preserves protect critical unfragmented oak woodlands in the Raccoon Creek and Bear River watersheds and are part of one of the last relatively “wild” areas in western Placer County. The trails on these preserves meander past spectacular rock formations, the gently flowing Raccoon Creek, and panoramic views of the Sierra Nevada foothills and Sacramento Valley. This activity is a wilderness outing in a natural setting. There are NO restrooms, benches, or water on site, so please come prepared. PLT reserves the right to cancel an event in cases of extreme weather, bad air quality, rain, or other conditions beyond our control. Heavy rain will cancel the event.

Directions to the Preserve will be emailed after registration. Check your spam folder if you do not receive the email within 15 minutes of registering.
