Megan D’Errico has a background in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education and academic leadership, with a Ph.D. in Geological & Environmental Sciences, and a master’s degree in teaching. Over the course of her career, she has worked as a faculty member, program director, and academic administrator, supporting students in STEM, while collaborating closely with faculty and staff. Much of her work has focused on creating inclusive learning environments, strengthening student pathways, and connecting academic experiences to real-world opportunities.

My interests in environmental science, education, and community engagement, along with hobbies like gardening (I love succulents) and exercising outdoors, align well with volunteering in educational and science-focused settings. Volunteering allows me to contribute my skills in a more personal, community-centered way while continuing to learn from others and support meaningful initiatives that strengthen our community/region.

I believe we have a fundamental responsibility to steward the land and protect the Earth. The landscapes we enjoy today are not simply resources to consume; they are ecosystems we are entrusted to care for. How we manage them reflects our values and our commitment to future generations. I’m driven to serve on the Placer Land Trust Community Council because land conservation is one tangible way to live out that responsibility. Protecting open space, water, wildlife habitat, and access to nature is not just environmental work to me, it’s an ethical obligation to sustain the places that sustain us.
