I just took my first ever spin on the trail at Big Hill Preserves. After years of waiting until things were just right, we decided to go ahead and bring some folks out for a test-ride the trail, and I’m glad we did. The six-mile loop of technical uphills will test your toughness, the downhill runs will unleash your adrenaline. This is a great ride for adventurous Mountain Bikers- so leave your casual cruiser at home.
This trail lies in the heart of Placer Land Trust’s planned trail expansion, which will connect to Hidden Falls Regional Park just south and to the Bear River almost ten miles to the north with over 20 miles of new trails! We all had a moment of appreciation for where we were as we stopped at a look-out rock where we could see the full parking lot at Hidden Falls. We were 15 riders and no one else anywhere to be seen!
If we are successful in building this trail system, it won’t be so quiet for long! We hope to help alleviate some of the congestion at Hidden Falls and open this trail to the public. If you want to take on big hill- become a member and join us for our next ride! We will be offering them on selected 4th Saturdays for the rest of the year!
