The Acquisition Manager works closely with the Executive Director to meet organizational land acquisition goals, namely securing acquisition project revenue and managing acquisition projects.

Janet grew up on 120 acres in Beavercreek, Oregon, where she spent her childhood wandering in the woods, exploring nature, and helping on the family farm. In her early adult life, she lived in Portland before moving to a small farm in rural Lincoln in early 2000.

Janet has a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies with a minor in Biology from CSU Sacramento and graduated magna cum laude. Before attending Sac State, Janet went to Sierra College, where she was very active in the ECOS environmental club as well as being a volunteer for the Save Clover Valley foundation.  After nearly a year serving as a volunteer and independent contractor for Placer Land Trust, she was hired in July 2011 as the Program Manager, then took on the position of Acquisition Manager in 2022

She is a graduate of the 2017-18 Leadership Lincoln program, and then served on the City of Lincoln Park & Recreation committee from 2018 to 2022. Janet has also been a volunteer with Fieldhaven Feline Center since 2021.

“I sort of feel like I’ve come full circle in life, moving back to the country and living on a small farm. Instead of conifers and a creek like I had growing up, I have oak trees and an NID ditch. Seeing Lincoln grow so quickly, from a small town to the populated city it’s become, reinforces my desire to help preserve land in Placer County so that my granddaughter will be able to enjoy nature and open space as she grows up. I love being part of the Placer Land Trust team and help protect the area in which I live and play.”
