In 2010, Placer Land Trust raised and contributed funding to ensure 40 acres of productive farmland in Newcastle would be permanently protected for continued agricultural use. Funding from Placer Land Trust, Placer County’s Placer Legacy program, and the State of California Department of Conservation enabled Placer County to purchase and record an agricultural conservation easement concurrent with the farm changing hands from the previous owners to the Natural Trading Company.
The easement is recorded on title and permanently prevents any subdivision, use or development of the property that would significantly damage or impair the property or its agricultural values. The Natural Trading Company is certified organic by the California Certified Organic Farmers.
