Andrew Polik retired as a Police Detective and US Coast Guard Reservist before moving to the Auburn area with his family in 2019. In addition to being a docent and preserve steward with PLT, he also volunteers with the Placer Sheriff’s Search and Rescue as a member of the Mountain Rescue Team, and with Team Rubicon which is a nationwide volunteer organization whose mission is to help local communities with disaster response and mitigation.
“I like to explore areas of the foothills that few get to access. The variety of terrain, plants and animals throughout the different seasons makes each trip unique. I really enjoy building and maintaining the trails in the land trust and the hard work it takes to improve access and preserve the natural habitats. My favorite properties are those along the Bear River because they seem the most remote and natural while quietly being so close to Auburn.”
