About this event:
After months of our docent hikes on hold due to the pandemic, we are excited to resume small guided hikes and get back out on the trails! Our trained docents will lead you on an “easy to moderate” hike where you can learn about the flora and fauna, take in the amazing views, and see why this permanently protected preserve is a gift to current and future generations!
Who should attend:
People who can hike at a slow to moderate pace, following our Covid-19 safety guidelines. This hike is not recommended for children under 7. Sorry, no dogs allowed unless they are service animals (due to the potential conflicts with livestock and wildlife).
COVID-19 Protocol for our docent led hikes:
Please thoroughly read the PLT Covid-19 Safety Guidelines which will be strictly enforced on our hikes. If you are not comfortable or able to comply with the safety guidelines, we respectfully ask that you do not sign up for the hike.
About the Big Hill Preserves:
These preserves protect critical unfragmented oak woodlands in the Raccoon Creek and Bear River watersheds, and are part of one of the last relatively “wild” areas in western Placer County. The trails on these preserves meander past spectacular rock formations, the gently flowing Raccoon Creek, and panoramic views of the Sierra Nevada foothills and Sacramento Valley. Learn more about this beautiful preserve here.
