Date & Time: Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 10:30 am

Location: Laursen “South” Bear River Preserve, North Auburn

About this event: Forest Bathing is taking a slow walk among trees, absorbing the natural surroundings with all senses (sight, touch, sound, smell, internal energy). A guide encourages, at different times, the participants to experience the beautiful surroundings for each sense in new ways. The Tai Chi component draws Qi into the body, mind, and spirit to wake up internal energy. These movements of Eight Pieces of Brocade are easy movements and are done standing.

Studies have shown participants experience reduced blood pressure, reduced depression, increased energy and ability to focus. Traditionally, the path through the forest is not a defined route, but a meander through the forest and some of the sensory highlights of the preserve.

Distance and difficulty: No special equipment is needed for this hike other than comfortable clothes and shoes. This will be an easy slow meditative walk and will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours of walking, some on trails, some alongside trails, and across small fields with minimal hills and some uneven terrain.

Who should attend: Open to anyone. This event is not recommended for children. Sorry, no dogs allowed unless they are service animals (due to the potential conflicts with livestock and wildlife).

This is a free event; however, donations help make these activities possible! We suggest a donation of $10 per person or $25 for a family. You can donate during registration, and we’re happy to accept cash or a check at the event in an envelope with your name written on it.
