Kotomyan Preserve was our first property to feature a trail. 20 years in the making, this trail meanders through rolling hills, oak woodlands and rock outcroppings. Now we’ve got the trail bug and are working on more than 20 miles of new trails.

Thanks to an outpouring of community support and the donated efforts of Randy Martin with Trailscape Inc., we started building the trail that will connect you to the Bear River on Harvego Bear River Preserve.

A huge shout goes out to the volunteer crews that joined Board Member Jim Haagen-Smit and Randy at short notice for a couple of weekends in January. The hard, physical, dirty-work of moving rocks and finishing the trail is extremely satisfying for those of us who plan to play there as soon as they are open!

Stay tuned for the first opportunity to hike, run or ride on this new section. The docents will be training there on March 22nd, and soon after that we will need your help to make sure this new trail is traveled! Send an email to janet.voris@placerlandtrust.org to get a notification when this adventure will take place. You can also let Janet know if you are interested in helping build trails!
