Don Rake is a recent volunteer with Placer Land Trust. Before moving to Placer County he was a volunteer at the American River Conservancy in El Dorado County for several years, where he was primarily a docent at the Wakamatsu Tea and Silk Farm Colony.
Don’s love for the outdoors and nature began early in life, thanks to his family’s love of nature. The adult leaders of his Boy Scout troop were also excellent teachers of a love for nature and the environment with an emphasis on the time before the settling of non-native humans in California, snow camping, and other adventures. Through these experiences Don developed a strong belief in the need for land preservation for present and future generations.
Don worked for the State of California for 30 years, primarily at the California Air Resources Board, retiring in 2007. Don lives in Rocklin with Diane, his wife of 37 years, and 2 cocker spaniels. Don and Diane have traveled extensively, both domestically and internationally.
