25 years ago, Placer Land Trust founders set out to protect natural and agricultural lands that would benefit future generations. That mission is working as we are now seeing the “next” generation in action, and it’s obvious that our lands are in good hands!

Our work with the young adults of the AmeriCorps NCCC program is just one example of youth getting their hands dirty and playing their part to care for the natural world.

Connect Youth with Nature: We often talk about the ways these young adults are restoring natural habitat, or making our preserves safer by reducing the fuel load. But spending time outdoors has many perks for them too. Their sign shows just a few of these benefits…stress reduction, peace, freedom, relaxation, spirituality, adventure, and simple happiness! 
Develop Leadership Skills:

Increase our Stewardship Reach: One team of AmeriCorps members can help us accomplish projects that we simply could not tackle with our small staff team. In spring 2016, our AmeriCorps team helped complete stewardship projects on 10 different preserves. If we had paid for this work, we estimate it would have cost us $85,000!
