Lynnette at Taylor Ranch Preserve

Anyone who knows Lynnette Batt knows she’s a force to be reckoned with! Don’t let her small size fool you, she knows how to get things DONE! Lynnette joined the Placer Land Trust team as our first Conservation Director back in 2017. This new position, along with Lynnette’s contributions, enabled us to nearly double our capacity to protect land, and increase our level of management, enhancement, and restoration of lands in our care.

Lynnette applied strategic thought, professional focus, and efficiency to improve land acquisition projects and conservation oversight and streamlined many of our land management processes. She also took on all mitigation projects for us, allowing us to protect more vernal pools and valley wetlands, such as Antonio Mountain Ranch Preserve.

“In addition to these great contributions, one of the most meaningful things Lynnette did in her time at PLT was to build impactful relationships,” says Executive Director Jeff Darlington. “She developed a great rapport with several large-scale landowners who are now working with us on multiple conservation projects, and developed and deepened our partnerships with USFS, BLM, and State grant-making agencies such as the Department of Conservation and the SALC program, allowing us to work together on conservation projects and make use of federal and state funding.” Lynnette also expanded our professional relationships, working with more appraisers, foresters, biologists, surveyors, mining experts, and other contractors.

Although we’re sad to see her go, Lynnette is leaving us for a good reason — to return to her roots in New England to be closer to family and to take a new position as Project Manager with the Trust for Public Land (we teased her that TPL is pretty darn close to PLT). There she’ll be working on conservation projects through western Maine (where she grew up) and northern New Hampshire.

“I am tremendously grateful for having been a part of this awesome PLT team and having the chance to advance our mission over the last 4.5 years,” says Lynnette. “I have learned so much and I am so impressed with all we have accomplished together.”

Lynnette, your skills, hard work, big heart, and sense of humor will be missed. New England is lucky to have you back!
