Have a curious kid in your life who loves being outside? Come spend a magical morning wandering, wondering and learning about nature at our Taylor Ranch Preserve! This activity is open to children ages 6 – 8 years.

Date & Time: Sunday, March 17, 9:00 am

Location: Laursen Bear River “South” Preserve, North Auburn

About This Event:

In an over-scheduled and stressed world, sometimes our children need some time in nature to just meander, ramble, take a deeper look at nature’s wonders and let that artistic inspiration flow! This activity is geared towards youth 6 – 8 years old and lead by youth educator Christina Walsh-Curley who will encourage participants to listen, smell and look closely as we ramble along approximately 1.5 mile of trail and play near (but not in!) waterways, have leaf-boat races, sketch nature up close, and experience the outdoors! Drawing material will be provided. At least 1 parent/guardian must accompany their child(ren) and are asked to bring a snack for themselves to enjoy during the outing.

Come unwind, get inspired and play outdoors on a splendid March morning! We’ll be scavenging around at our Laursen South Preserve!

Distance and difficulty: 1 to 1.5 easy mile with frequent stops – will take about 2 hours.

Who should attend: This event is designed to engage youth 6 – 8 years old (and must be accompanied by an adult) who love looking for cool creatures and who embrace the magic of spring meadows and enjoy being inspired by nature.

What to bring: Snacks and water! We recommend bringing something to sit on, wear waterproof shoes/boots and bring along your binoculars and magnifying glass if you have one. Extra sitting blankets and magnifying glasses will be available. Sketching materials will be provided.

This is a free event; however, donations help make these activities possible! We suggest a donation of $10 per person or $25 for a family. You can donate during registration, and we’re happy to accept cash or a check at the event in an envelope with your name written on it.
