Organization and Position Summary
Based in Auburn, CA, Placer Land Trust (PLT) is a private nonprofit organization founded in 1991 that works with willing landowners and conservation partners to permanently protect and care for natural and agricultural land in Placer County. To date, PLT has protected over 22,000 acres of land in Placer County for current and future generations. Our protected lands include woodlands, forests and rangelands, waterways and lakes, habitat corridors and wildlife preserves, parks and recreation areas, scenic vistas, and farms and ranches.
Ideally starting in Dec. 2026/Jan. 2027, PLT is seeking a full-time Community Engagement Manager (CEM) to further Placer Land Trust’s mission by sustainably expanding its capacity through community involvement. The work is primarily office-based, with a portion of time dedicated to field events and community outreach. The CEM will be a part of Placer Land Trust’s Engagement Team (fundraising, communications, outreach) that operates in a mutually supportive fashion, with administrative supervision provided by the Donor Relations Director. Specific responsibilities are listed on the following page.
The position is being offered at a full-time exempt salaried position (1.0 FTE, 40 hours/week). Occasional evening and weekend work is required, largely during our busy spring and fall seasons, as well as occasional travel within or outside of Placer County. PLT offers a hybrid work environment and flexible scheduling. PLT provides room and resources for its full team (expected to be 14 when this position starts) to work at the PLT office in Auburn, and PLT also helps with resources to facilitate efficient remote work. It is anticipated that the Community Engagement Manager will work from the PLT office one or two days a week; beyond that, a remote or hybrid work schedule can be determined by the employee and the Donor Relations Director.
Placer Land Trust values and seeks a team with diverse experience, backgrounds, perspectives, and skills to strengthen our team, and ensure our work remains relevant. At Placer Land Trust we prioritize providing a fair and genuine hiring experience, so we take the extra step by using hiring practices like blinding resumes for unbiased candidate review. We ask that serious candidates take the same care and time by providing genuine, personally-created application documents. We hope this ensures we honor each other’s valuable time with a genuine and meaningful interview process.
Hiring decisions could be made as early as December. Ideally, we’d like the Community Engagement Manager to start by early January; however, the position will remain open and listed until filled by the right candidate. We conduct background checks only after a conditional job offer is extended; we use adult conviction information gathered only when essential to the duties of the position.
