It’s Pie Party time! This special event is for Placer Land Trust members to come together and celebrate our Placer Land Trust community.

Saturday, March 16
2pm-4pm
(optional hour to explore starts at 1pm)

Laursen Bear River Preserve, North Auburn
Directions will be emailed upon registration

Join us for a pie potluck! Come at 1pm for an optional one-hour Open Preserve Day. Bring your walking shoes, binoculars, camera (no dogs or bikes, sorry) and wander the preserve. If you’re just coming for the pie — and who isn’t?! — we’ll start the potluck at 2pm.

You can bring a pre-sliced pie to share (sweet or savory) but it is not required. Upon arrival you will receive two drink tickets to enjoy the wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages we will provide. Additional beverages will be available for purchase. This is a family-friendly event, and we will have some games on offer for all ages. Please bring chairs or a picnic blanket and dress for success (that is, outdoor weather)!

RSVP by March 15th via the link below, or call Elia at 530-887-9222 ext 110.

FAQs

  • What kind of pie should I bring?
    • Any kind! Savory, sweet, quiche, pizza pie – whatever makes you happy!  We do tend to have an overload of sweet pies, so if you’re on the fence, maybe best to opt for savory.

  • Does everyone in my group need to bring a pie?
    • Nope, one pie per group is great!

  • Please pre-cut your pie at home!
    • It makes our lives easier! Thank you!

  • Please label your pies!
    • The label should include what type of pie it is, as well as any common allergens (ie. peanuts, almonds, walnuts, pecans, shellfish, soy, etc).
    • We encourage you to label your pie at home, but we will have supplies on site just in case.

  • Does my pie need to be homemade?
    • Nope, homemade is great, but so is your favorite ready-made option!
  • Do I need to bring a pie to attend?
    • Nope, pies are encouraged, but not required – we really just want to see you all!

  • Will there be things for people with dietary restrictions or allergies?
    • We can’t guarantee anything since it’s a potluck, but all pies will be labeled to help you find the perfect slice!

  • What should I wear?
    • This is a casual outdoor event, so please dress in whatever is comfortable for the weather, and wear shoes appropriate for trails, dirt, and grass.

  • Can I bring my own drinks?
    • Non-alcoholic, yes! But remember, upon arrival you will receive two drink tickets to enjoy the wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages we will have on-site. You can purchase any additional beverages you would like — We can accept cash, checks and all credit cards for drink purchases.

  • Are pets allowed?
    • No, pets are not allowed on this preserve.

  • What’s the one-hour Open Preserve Day?
    • It’s an optional hour for you to come hang out on the preserve a little more! Go for a short hike, try to spot some birds, bring your drawing or painting supplies or your camera, or even find a peaceful spot for yoga or meditation!
    • Please note, no bikes or motorized vehicles will be allowed during this time. Thanks!

  • Will there be seating provided?
    • There will not be seating provided, so please bring a picnic blanket or camp chair.

  • What else should I bring?
    • We suggest a picnic blanket or chairs. Please leave alcoholic beverages at home (drinks will be available onsite). Bring reusable water bottles to refill at the event to help reduce waste. You are also welcome to bring your own games, kites, or a ball to toss if you’d like!

  • Are there any bathrooms?
    • There will be two porta potties onsite.
