Daryl & Sue Oest

Each year, Placer Land Trust honors an individual or group that enhances the quality of life in Placer County through resource conservation with the prestigious Placer Conservator Award. Our shared vision to preserve this region’s agricultural heritage for generations to come is why we’re thrilled to honor Daryl & Sue Oest with this year’s award.

The Oest family has been ranching in the Auburn area since the 1850s. Their agricultural legacy has earned them the Distinguished Service Award from the Placer County Farm Bureau, and has led them to be inducted into the California Agricultural Heritage Club. The Oests were the first true ranchers to work with Placer Land Trust on permanently protecting their land. We are looking forward to completing the protection of the fifth and final phase of the family’s historic 940-acre ranch this year.
