AUBURN, CA, Aug. 6, 2019 – Americans unite and work together to save the open lands they love. Since 1991, Placer Land Trust has been doing just that for the people of Placer County. As one of the first land trusts in the Sierra to achieve national land trust accreditation, Placer Land Trust has announced it has been awarded accreditation for the third time – proving once again its professional excellence to maintain the public’s trust in its conservation work.
“Renewing our accreditation shows Placer Land Trust’s ongoing commitment to best management practices and permanent land conservation in Placer County,” said Jeff Darlington, Executive Director of Placer Land Trust. “We are a stronger organization for having gone through the rigorous accreditation renewal process. Our strength means special places will be protected forever, making Placer County an even greater place for current and future generations.”
Placer Land Trust provided extensive documentation and was subject to a comprehensive third-party evaluation prior to achieving this distinction. The Land Trust Accreditation Commission awarded renewed accreditation, signifying its confidence that Placer Land Trust’s lands will be protected forever.
“It is exciting to recognize Placer Land Trust’s continued commitment to national standards by renewing this national mark of distinction,” said Tammara Van Ryn, executive director of the Commission. “Donors and partners can trust the more than 400 accredited land trusts across the country are united behind strong standards and have demonstrated sound finances, ethical conduct, responsible governance, and lasting stewardship.”
To date, Placer Land Trust has protected over 11,000 acres of natural and agricultural lands in Placer County. The organization also offers guided hikes, walks, and tours on several preserves, giving the community the opportunity to explore and experience these permanently protected natural wonders.
