Quick Facts:

  • 10 acre property located near the Bear River in Colfax.
  • Protected in 2017 by Conservation Easement granted by Pacific Gas and Electric Company and Placer County.

Recreation Asset

The Preserve was donated by Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) to Placer County and a conservation easement was simultaneously granted to Placer Land Trust to guarantee the land is protected forever.  Placer County formally leased the property from PG&E and they will continue to use it as a staging area.  The Conservation Easement protects the property as open space scenery, foothill habitat, and potential future recreational access.

Wildlife & Scenery

The property contains mixed conifer and hardwood forests that provides habitat for a diverse range of wildlife in the Upper Bear River watershed.  This area is home to an incredible diversity of wildlife – from large mammals (bear, deer, coyote) to reptiles, amphibians, birds and insects.   The property also provides scenic value from the nearby public roadways.
