Join us for our first-ever Broom Stroll and enjoy a hike, chat with some nice folks, and make a huge difference in the native habitats at Canyon View Preserve!

Date/Time:  Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 9:00 am – 11:00 am

Location: Canyon View Preserve – learn more about the preserve here

About this event: Like many areas of the west, we are in a constant battle with the invasive French broom at Canyon View Preserve.  This aggressive non-native shrub quickly crowds out native plant communities because of its vigorous growth rate and abundant seed production.  Placer Land Trust has hosted several successful “Broom Battles” where hard-working volunteers have removed large broom plants with hand tools and mighty muscles.  This “Broom Stroll” will focus on enjoying a mellow 1.5 mile hike in a beautiful oak woodland while pulling the little trailside brooms by hand before they become giants in a couple of years.

More details, directions to the Preserve, and a list of what to bring will be emailed after registration. Check your spam folder if you do not receive the email within 15 minutes of registering.

Participants must print and bring a signed release of liability to the event from both Placer Land Trust. One form per household. Children under 18 need a parent’s signature. Click here to download and print the liability waiver.
