We are delighted to announce that Placer Land Trust has adopted a highway! “Adopt a Highway” is a Caltrans program that encourages individuals, businesses, and corporations to help maintain local roadsides through litter removal. You may have seen these signs along California roadways and wondered what it’s all about… Come volunteer with us and find out!

We recently adopted the section of Highway 49 from Borland Avenue to Old Foresthill Rd (top of the American River Canyon to the river crossing). This is a scenic stretch of highway that gets a lot of use and visibility, so we want to make sure it stays clean and beautiful. Please consider being a part of our inaugural Adopt a Highway Crew and contribute to our mission by caring for our community’s natural resources and increasing Placer Land Trust’s visibility.

We are building a core group of volunteers who are able to commit to workdays regularly. Time commitment is minimal: One workday per month, roughly two hours, on a weekday during lower-traffic time. No additional skills but your commitment are required; however, please note that we are not able to take volunteers under age 18 for this activity.
