Have you heard about the Big Day of Giving?
It’s an online giving event hosted by Givelocalnow.org— a chance for local non-profits to raise as much money as possible within 24 hours and receive matching funds from a variety of sponsors. Placer Land Trust is very excited to be a part of this great fundraising opportunity! The more online donations PLT raises on May 6, the higher the percentage of matching funds PLT will receive.
Here’s how it works:
Between 12 a.m. and 11:59 p.m., on Tuesday, May 6, new and long-time friends of PLT are invited to make an online donation at The Big Day of Giving Web site givelocalnow.org/placerlandtrust. You can make a donation from the comfort of your home or you can head down to our office at 11661 Blocker Dr., Suite 110, in Auburn, where we’ll be hosting an open house from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Drop in, say hello, have a snack, and if you’d like, we’ll help you make your donation online. We’ll also have a team available to help out with donations at the Roseville Galleria (near JCpenny). Only online donations will be matched. If you make an annual donation, May 6 is a great day to make your donating power go further! Visa, Mastercard, and Discover are all accepted.
What’s the big deal about Placer Land Trust?
Placer Land Trust has been working with willing landowners to protect open and agricultural space in Placer County since 1991. To date, PLT protects nearly 8,000 acres of land in Placer County, and that number is growing. Our work includes creating public recreation areas, restoring native habitats, maintaining healthy water systems, reducing fuel loads, building trails, educating youth, and helping ranchers continue to work their land during lean years.
One of our many current projects is to build 20 miles of trails amidst 3,000 acres of protected land from Harvego Preserve to Hidden Falls Preserve. The cost of this endeavor alone is $750, 000.
The Skinny
We hope you’ll take a few minutes out of your day on Tuesday, May 6, to make an online donation and help us continue our work enriching the quality of life in Placer County. Follow us at @PlacerLandTrust on May 6, The Big Day of Giving, as we’ll be live-tweeting our donation count. And, hey, thanks for all you do!
