Neighborhood Trail Preserved
The trail is accessed at the end of Olive Orchard Drive in the historic Aeolia Heights neighborhood. The Chamberlain family has been letting the neighborhood use a scenic trail on the property for decades, and Placer Land Trust will continue that practice. The Aeolia Preserve protects some of the last remaining open space and habitat between the American River Canyon and the residential area of Auburn in the Aeolia Heights neighborhood. Thanks to funding from Emigrant Trails Greenway Trust, this open space, habitat, and recreation opportunities have been permanently protected.
Fuel Load Reduction
Constructing fire breaks and removing woody debris and invasive species in the understory reduces fuel loads in the mixed conifer and oak woodlands forest, reducing wildfire danger for the property and its neighbors. Placer Land Trust is working with our neighbors to reduce fuel loads at the Aeolia Preserve to keep our community safer.
Open Space, Scenic Vistas, Habitat, and River Access
Placer Land Trust’s American River Watershed program supports native habitat and water quality in the American River while creating and protecting public access to regional trail systems.
Public Recreation
